In recent years there has been a dramatic rise in the population of specialized education. In 1994, 18% of US children, equivalent to 12.6 million children nationally, under the age of 18 yrs. old had special health care needs. This number has increased exponentially every year since then. More specific locally, in 2007; “1 of every 94 children have autism in New Jersey. Of that 1 of every 60 are males,” said by Lindy Washburn, a staff writer for www.northjersey.com .
